CHEROKEE, N.C. (Shelbyville News) - A Shelbyville woman has been killed in North Carolina.
The Cherokee Indian Police Department confirmed Tuesday morning that Barbara Preidt, 76, died Sunday after suffering a gunshot wound.
Police say Preidt is the victim of a homicide investigation 400 miles away in Cherokee, 24-Hour News 8’s news partner The Shelbyville News reports.
Preidt was found in a hotel parking lot after officer received a call about shots fired.
The case is under investigation as a homicide stemming from an apparent robbery.
Officers say Preidt and her husband were returning to their hotel when, according to a witness, a person with a black mask and dark clothing grabbed a purse from Preidt and fired a weapon.
