Deputy suspended for breaking rules

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - A sheriff's deputy was suspended for 32 days without pay after being charged with six internal rule violations.
Sergeant Bill Pfifer is charged with insubordination and improper conduct after making comments about a fellow sheriff. Pfifer was warned not to make comments that violated departmental rules.
Our partners at the Daily Journal report the sheriff's office merit board found that he had violated five departmental rules, including conduct unbecoming an officer, not obeying orders, insubordination, making improper public statements and not displaying courtesy. A sixth charge of campaign activity was dismissed by the board. The merit board had the decision to do nothing, reprimand, demote, suspend or terminate Pfifer.
Pfifer, a 16-year veteran of the department was suspended for 32 days and will not be allowed to work part-time jobs that involve police duties. Furthermore, Pfifer will lose his take-home squad car during the suspension.
