INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police say a 3-year-old escaped serious injury Saturday afternoon when the vehicle the child was sitting in was shot at.
IMPD officers were called to the 2000 block of Adina Boulevard shortly before 3:30 p.m. Police say the caller told dispatchers she had accidentally shot a child during a disturbance.
When police arrived to the scene they found the 3-year-old child had not been shot.
The victim was slightly injured by flying glass after the car the child was in was fired at. The child did not require transport to the hospital.
Detectives have arrested 26-year-old Andrea Drake on a preliminary charge of felony criminal recklessness. She was taken to the Arrestee Processing Center.
Drake filed a statement that said she fired the weapon that slightly injured the child.
The weapon was recovered. No other injuries were reported.
