INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police have arrested a 15-year-old teen for an incident that occurred at the Lafayette Square Mall Friday night.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to 3919 Lafayette Road around 7 p.m. after multiple calls were made about shots being fired inside of the Lafayette Square mall.

Preliminary information indicated that 3 – 4 shots were fired.

When officers arrived, they gathered information from witnesses and quickly located a juvenile male on the north side of the mall who matched the suspect’s description.

He was taken into custody and is being interviewed by officers at the Juvenile Processing Center.

Police also stopped a possible suspect vehicle where they recovered several large caliber guns, according to a release.

The suspected handgun from the incident was found on the north side of the building nearby the suspect. Several live .22 rounds were found on the teen.

Police also questioned three other black men, ages 17 to 20, in the mall parking lot. Police found a rifle and several plastic guns in the car the individuals were in.

No injuries were reported.

A motive for the shooting is not yet known. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
