Suspect caught in church theft

LEBANON, Ind. (WISH) - A maintenance worker was arrested after police said he confessed to stealing several items from St. Joseph Catholic Church, according to 24-Hour News 8 news partner The Reporter .

David Pelis, 43, Lebanon, is also accused of injuring a Lebanon Police Department officer during his arrest at Memory Hall apartment, according to court documents.

He was formally charged with battery resulting in bodily injury, resisting arrest and theft.

The items missing from the church's temporary location were found in Pelis' apartment, police said, and have been returned to the church.
