HAYDEN, Ind. (The Republic) - A police pursuit ended in a drowning Sunday in Jennings County, 24-Hour News 8 news partner The Republic reports.
Police officials told the newspaper a chase ensued after a Seymour police officer tried to pull over a Jeep Cherokee for a traffic violation.
During the chase, the Cherokee crashed and the driver tried to get away from police by swimming across a pond. The suspect, who wasn’t immediately identified, drowned in about 10 feet of water.
Officers and medical personnel tried to revive the man, but he was pronounced dead at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
