BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - A suspect in the death of a Bartholomew County toddler will be held in jail until at least Wednesday, our partners at The Republic report.
A Bartholomew County Circuit Court Judge agreed to a motion by the prosecuting attorney to place a 72-hour hold on 30-year-old Thomas W. Gorski. A 72-hour hold, which doesn't count weekend hours, means Gorski will stay in the Bartholomew County Jail until at least Wednesday morning while the prosecuting attorney considers formal charges. This hold will allow police to probe further into the case.
Gorski was arrested Wednesday on preliminary charges of child neglect after an autopsy showed 19-month-old Evan McCue suffered a head injury.
McCue was pronounced dead at Columbus Regional Hospital Sunday after his mother called 911 when her son wasn't breathing. Police say Gorski was home at the time of the toddler's death.
