GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) - A Center Grove High School freshman was detained by police on Wednesday after threats were discovered on Facebook, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.

Police were alerted when another person saw the post on Facebook. The 15-year-old boy reportedly posted expletives directed at the school, teachers and one teacher in particular. It was followed by a post that read, “Something bad is gonna happen tomarrow.”

The boy told police he had been in trouble in school that day for putting his head down on a desk. He said he wanted to make people think he would bring a gun or bomb to school, but that he didn’t intend to do anything.

Police took the boy to the detention center for 12 hours.

Another boy was interviewed because of a comment on the Facebook post about a gun, but the boy said he was joking and presumed the other boy was as well. He was released to his parents, but deputies detained a rifle from the home while the incident was being investigated.

Center Grove Community School Corp. said the 15-year-old boy has been suspended for 10 days, pending a recommendation for expulsion. School officials thanked police and the students and parents that brought the issue to light.

"Because of their quick thinking and action, we were able to move swiftly to deal with the issue," school officials said in a news release.
