COLUMBUS, Ind. (The Republic) - A Columbus man was arrested over the weekend after witnesses said he used a shotgun to scare a teen throwing snowballs in a downtown neighborhood, 24-Hour News 8 news partner The Republic reports.

A 14-year-old was throwing snowballs at and around a car belonging to the girlfriend of 56-year-old Michael W. Todd, according to police. Officials said he then used the shotgun to intimidate the boy, saying he’d shoot him if he didn’t stop throwing the snowballs. Todd never pointed the weapon at the teen.

Todd was arrested on a preliminary charge of intimidation with a deadly weapon.

The incident happened near 14th and Chestnut streets, and other witnesses corroborated what the teen told police.
