INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Firefighters who went to help with a medical emergency Tuesday night returned to find thieves got into their fire station and stole a television.

The incident happened at Wayne Township Fire Station 84, 7606 W. 10th St., the fire department said.

It was late Tuesday night – nearing midnight – when fire crews left the station for the medical situation. Fire officials said they believe people were waiting for firefighters to be called away so they could steal the TV. Although other personnel were in the station at the time of the crime, they were asleep.

The suspects left the area by the time the fire truck had parked.

Police say the suspects were driving a green, four door, Ford Taurus. One suspect is a described as a petite, white female driver. Another suspect is described as a black male, 19 to 20 years old, 6 feet 2 inches and 230 pounds. A second white male suspect is around 6 feet tall and was wearing a brown Carhartt jacket and black stocking cap.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the fire station at 317-246-6217.
