INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Two pizza delivery drivers are recovering after police say they were attacked during a late night delivery on the city’s east side. Following the attack, the two say the suspects stole their delivery car.
Officers were called to the 600 block of North Gray Street, near Michigan and Rural Streets, shortly before midnight Wednesday morning. According to police reports, a witness told officers that a car bearing the delivery sign “Aunt Polly’s Pizza” had pulled up to a home there to make a delivery, when two men emerged from the house. After a brief conversation, the witness said both men pointed small, black and silver colored handguns at the driver and his female passenger. A third man was also involved, though police say it’s unknown if he was armed.
According to reports, the suspects then removed cash from the driver’s pocket along with the driver’s cell phone. Both the driver and passenger say they were then hit across the face with the barrel of one of the guns. Moments later, the victims say the suspects climbed into the vehicle and sped off.
Police describe the car as a 2000 four-door red Dodge Neon.
Both victims were treated on the scene, and are expected to recover.
