INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A Crime Stoppers tip led police to the man they say kidnapped a gas station employee at gunpoint and then robbed her.

Kelly Joe “Boomer” Gibson, Jr. was arrested early Friday.

The Morgan County Prosecutor filed charges Friday afternoon against Gibson for kidnapping, armed robbery, car jacking, criminal confinement, and failure to obtain a handgun license.

The victim told told police she was leaving the Circle K gas station at State Road 67 and Camby Road Monday to make a bank deposit when a man approached her and told her to get into her car.

According to court documents, she thought it was a joke at first because it was her birthday but became scared when she saw he had a gun.

She said they drove to Mooresville where the man left with the money, which totaled about $8,900.

He left the victim and her car behind.

She also told police that while they were in the car, the man said he was only doing this because his child had leukemia.

But police say when they interviewed Gibson, he said that sounded better than saying he needed the money for heroin.

The victim said she was not hurt and is has returned to work.
