CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) - Carmel police have arrested two suspects in a string of catalytic converter thefts.
On Tuesday, officers were watching Honda Elements parked in the 11600 block of North Meridian Street, near where several catalytic converters had been stolen, mostly from that type of vehicle. At about 10:20 p.m., officers saw a vehicle that matched description of a vehicle allegedly used in a recent catalytic converter theft at Carmel High School Stadium.
Police said when confronted by investigators, the two people in the vehicle – Robert Luedtke, 31, Noblesville, and Ashley Bell, 23, Sheridan – admitted to stealing several catalytic converters in Carmel and Fishers.
They were both preliminary charged with theft, along with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a narcotic drug, and possession of a syringe. They were arrested and taken to Hamilton County Jail.
