CINCINNATI (AP) - Two Indiana men have been charged in federal court with the attempted armed robbery of a southwest Ohio bank that led to a five-hour police standoff.
Federal authorities say 35-year-old Anton J. Alexander of Indianapolis and 43-year-old Anthony M. Phillips of Fort Wayne, Ind., were indicted Wednesday in Cincinnati on attempted armed bank robbery charges. The charges involve a Fifth Third Bank branch in the Dayton suburb of Springboro.
Court documents say the suspects pushed the bank manager inside as he was entering the bank Friday morning and one man allegedly pointed a gun at him. Authorities say the men tried to flee when police arrived and the manager escaped safely.
Phillips' attorney says his client will plead not guilty. Alexander's attorney did not immediately return a call Wednesday.
