CLARK COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - An Indiana State Trooper stopped a man on I-65 near Henryville for a traffic violation around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday.

The officer asked the driver of the vehicle for his license and registration. The driver handed the officer his license but said he could not find his registration.

While the driver continued to look for the registration, the officer asked further questions. The driver then put the vehicle in drive and sped off. The officer chased the vehicle down I-65 until the driver got off on the Henryville exit.

The chase continued through a wooded area near Memphis. The vehicle pursuit then stopped, and the officer was forced to chase the man on foot. Several other officers began to respond to the incident and officer set up a perimeter around the area.

K-9 units were also called to help the investigation. While the K-9 units were conducting their search, an officer found the man hiding under several boards in a pile of junk.

Police identified the driver as Charles F. Jackson of Memphis, Ind. Jackson was taken to the Clark County Jail where he is charged with resisting law enforcement, criminal recklessness, and reckless driving. Jackson is also charged with invasion of privacy, as the passenger in his car had a protective order against him.

Jackson was also wanted on two outstanding warrants.
