Woman charged in adoption fraud scheme

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Marion County Prosecutor filed formal charges against a woman accused in an adoption fraud scheme.

According to the probable cause affidavit, detectives learned Christina White knowingly placed the same unborn baby up for adoption with multiple couples and agencies, in an effort to profit from the adoption.

The prospective adoptive couples gave money to White for housing and medical expenses as part of the adoption agreement.

“This woman was preying on these families’ desire to have a baby by getting them to provide for her housing and medical care.” said Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi. “These four families hope to have a baby of their own was hindered because of her deception.”

White faces three counts of theft and four counts of adoption deception.
