Woman charged with OWI after pedestrian was struck

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A woman has been charged after police said she was driving drunk and hit a pedestrian in the early morning hours Sunday .

Elizabeth Peel, 52, was arrested and preliminarily charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury. She was released on bond and has an initial hearing set for Feb. 15.

Kenneth Stevenson, 29, remains in fair condition at IU Health Methodist Hospital after the accident just after 3 a.m. Sunday near Kentucky Avenue and Ameriplex Parkway.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the investigation is ongoing and more charges were possible.
