GREENSBURG, Ind. (WISH) - Greensburg police are investigating a second reported abduction and sexual assault in as many weeks.
In both cases, the victims say they were forced into a two-door, black Dodge pick-up truck by two white men. They're described as around 50 years old and heavyset.
Police say they're not ready to say the two cases are related; at this point they're investigating them separately.
The latest case involves an 18 year old Decatur County woman, who was waiting for a ride in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Greensburg around 10 Monday night.
“This truck came by, and stopped and asked her if she needed a ride. She declined, but then the truck came back, and the passenger grabbed her and put her in the truck," said Detective Bill Meyerrose with the Greensburg Police Department.
Meyerrose says the victim didn’t see a weapon, but she was grabbed and forced inside the truck.
“There were no threats, nothing of that sort. In fact, there was little to no communication between the two guys, and the victims,” added Meyerrose.
The victim told police the two men drove her 5 or 6 miles north, about a ten minute ride. She said they touched her inappropriately during that time. She told police they dropped her off near State Road 3 and County Road 700 North. There, she was able to call 911 with her cell phone.
Last week, a 13-year-old Greensburg girl told police she was picked up and sexually assaulted by two men in a black truck on her way to school. The school girl described the suspect's vehicle as "a "shiny black Dodge truck with loud exhaust."
She reported being driven around, touched inappropriately, and being dropped off at the same location she was picked up. She described her kidnappers as men in their 50s. One is described as tall, bald, and having a mustache, and the other was described as have brownish, graying hair with a big stomach.
“It kind of makes anyone concerned, because if they could get an 18 year old, they could get anybody,” said Antonya Hull of Greensburg.
“The second time it happened, and it’s the same thing?” said John Hunt of Greensburg. “That’s pretty concerning for the kids and parents.”
Police aren't sure whether these men are local, but say they're looking at surveillance video from Wal-Mart.
For now, police are hoping residents take note - and stay aware of your surroundings.
Meyerrose recommends you have your cell phone or your keys in your hand to ward people away.
