2nd candidate named in Carmel superintendent search

CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) - The second of three candidates has been named in the search for the next Carmel Clay superintendent.

Dr. Michael Benway, the current superintendent of Valparaiso Community Schools, is in the running. The community is invited to a "meet and greet" with Dr. Benway Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Carmel Educational Services Center.

Another candidate, Dr. Jeff Swensson, who is Carmel Clay's assistant superintendent, had a meet and greet scheduled for Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Current Carmel Clay Superintendent Barbara Underwood, 65, announced her retirement in May. She served as superintendent for Carmel Clay Schools for eight years.
