Indiana University could raise tuition more than 4 percent each of the next two school years.
IU President Michael McRobbie is recommending in-state tuition hikes of 4.6 percent this year and 4.8 percent next year at the Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses. Tuition at IU's regional campuses could go up 4.4 this year and 4.6 percent next year.
Ivy Tech Community College is proposing tuition increases of about 4.9 percent this year and next.
Both IU and Ivy Tech announced Monday they would hold public hearings on the proposed increases July 16.
The State Commission for Higher Education recommended that IU increase tuition no more than five percent in each of the next two years. It said Ivy Tech should keep tuition increases to a maximum of 4 percent.
