MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) - Ball State University has dropped its charters for seven schools across the state, including one in Indianapolis.
The university announced Tuesday it won’t renew its contract with Imagine Indiana Life Sciences Academy-East in Indianapolis. It also won’t renew its charter with Kenneth A. Christmon STEMM Leadership Academy in Richmond along with three schools in Fort Wayne and two schools in Gary.
Ball State gave five-year contract renewals to Options Charter School in Noblesville and Dr. Robert H. Faulkner Academy in Marion. Two other area schools, Hoosier Academy in Indianapolis and Anderson Preparatory Academy in Anderson, received three-year contract extensions under certain performance conditions.
The university currently has 42 charter schools it oversees.
