INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Sources tell 24-Hour News 8 that Butler University president Dr. Bobby Fong is leaving the school to take a post at Ursinus College in Pennsylvania.
Announcement is expected to be made in a 1:30 p.m. web conference on the Ursinus College website.
Fong has served as president of the private liberal arts university since 2001. Under his administration the university has doubled its endowment and saw a record setting freshman class in 2010.
Fong will continue to serve as Butler’s president until the end of this academic year.
“I have been privileged to be associated with Butler through a decade of remarkable progress,” Fong noted. “Ursinus sought a president to lead it in a strategic planning process, a comprehensive fundraising campaign, and an effort to raise its profile in the local community and nationally. Butler gave me experience in these areas. The invitation from Ursinus also takes me back to my roots in liberal arts colleges and to family on the east coast.”
The school reached recent nationwide fame by reaching the Final Four in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
