INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - There are a number of teaching strategies to improve ISTEP scores, but teachers across Central Indiana are using popular music to get students excited for the test.

From a re-mix of "Gangnam Style" to a re-working of Top 40 hit “Call Me Maybe,” teachers are using music to get students pumped up for the statewide testing.

ISTEP began on Monday across the state.

In Marion, McCulloch Middle School teachers and staff members teamed up to create a video called Pass It Maybe. Students got a chance to see it at a pep rally on Friday.

At Lighthouse Academy in Indianapolis, teachers took a slightly different approach. Complete with dancing and costumes, the school re-made the popular Gangnam Style song to get students excited about the test.

Teachers at Erskine Elementary School in Anderson had a choreographed dance skit that involved students at a student assembly before they took ISTEP.
