INDIANAPOLIS - (WISH) A fire early Sunday morning caused more than $650,000 in damage to an area downtown.
According to the Indianapolis Fire Department it took 80 firefighters to put out the fire that started around 2:15 a.m. in an empty house at 115 E. 9th Street.
The fire spread to an occupied home next door causing heavy damage.
Heavy smoke also forced people living in the Cathcart Apartments on 9th Street to evacuate.
The apartment building has smoke and water damage.
The Red Cross is now helping tenants.
Investigators with the Indianapolis Fire Department are now looking into what started the fire.
A couple from Benton County was arrested for meth Saturday afternoon.
