SHIPSHEWANA, Ind. (AP) - Authorities in northern Indiana say a passenger in an Amish buggy was killed when it turned into a passing semitrailer on a rural highway.
The LaGrange County Sheriff's Department says the person killed in Monday's crash was thrown from the buggy along with the driver and two other passengers. Those three people suffered minor injuries.
The Elkhart Truth and The Goshen News report the crash happened on Indiana 120 near Shipshewana as the semitrailer was passing the buggy going the same direction. Police say the buggy turned from the highway's shoulder and hit the back portion of the trailer about 40 miles east of South Bend.
The passenger who died suffered head injuries. The person's identity wasn't immediately released.
