SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Indiana University South Bend's recital hall will undergo a $1.2 million renovation thanks to a gift from a foundation honoring the life of an IU student killed in a plane crash.

The upgraded 224-seat hall is set to reopen in 2014 following the renovation funded by the Georgina Joshi Foundation.

The South Bend Tribune reports the building will be renamed the Louise E. Addicott and Yatish J. Joshi Performance Hall.

Addicott-Joshi and her husband, Yatish Joshi, created the Georgina Joshi Foundation to honor their daughter, who died when a plane she was piloting crashed near Bloomington in April 2006, killing her and four other IU music students.

Addicott-Joshi died in December 2007 when a plane her husband was piloting crashed near Traverse City, Mich. He survived that crash.
