SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WISH) - Sixteen people were cited during Notre Dame’s move-in weekend.

Indiana State Excise Police officers issued 32 citations this weekend at Notre Dame University in South Bend.

The 16 people were cited on a total of 32 charges, most for illegal consumption of alcohol.

Twelve Notre Dame students were cited on various charges after leaving a liquor store. They were stopped for littering at South Ben Ave. and Jacob St. All 12 students were in the same car, according to police.

The passenger who littered was cited for littering, furnishing alcohol to a minor, and no seat belt. The driver was cited for minor transportation of alcohol. The other ten passengers were cited for illegal consumption of alcohol and no seat belts.

All occupants of the vehicle indicated they were members of the Notre Dame Lacrosse team.

Everyone cited this weekend will appear in St. Joseph County Court on later dates.
