HAMMOND, Ind. (AP) - Police in south suburban Chicago say a 16-year-old girl whose body was found in a trash bin in Indiana had been reported missing.

Calumet City Police say in a Saturday news release that officers responded to a missing person's report on Wednesday, the day before Jessica Tetter's body was found in a dumpster in nearby Hammond, Indiana on Thursday.

The Lake County Coroner's Office in Indiana has determined the teenager's death was a homicide.

Calumet City Police say they have a suspect in custody.

They say the investigation into the girl's death continues.
