INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Despite the deep recession, people are ready to celebrate the Fourth of July.
After a slow start, fireworks retailers say people are coming in and spending money. Many are offering discounts and specials as incentives. But beyond the fireworks, Hoosiers say the holiday reminds them of what makes America special.
"I'm thankful for the country that we live in, for the freedoms that we have, for what we stand for. And it's very special to teach our children it's special to live in a country like this," said Amelia Stewart of Indianapolis.
Many Hoosiers echoed Stewart's sentiment saying this year especially they are reminded on the Fourth of July, of the strength and resiliency of America.
