MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - Ball State University is proposing a tuition and fees increase of about 4.2% for the coming school year, a slightly smaller hike than those planned at other public universities in Indiana.
Under Ball State's proposal, in-state undergraduate students would pay an extra $329 for 2009-10, or a total of about $7,830 for the academic year.
The school's trustees are scheduled to set the new rates at their July 24 meeting. A school spokesman said the tuition portion of students' bill would go up 3.26%, below the 4% increase limit requested by the state Commission for Higher Education.
Among other public universities in the state, Indiana University plans a 4.6% tuition increase and Ivy Tech Community College is proposing a 4.9% hike.
