INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Binge drinking is up on college campuses across Indiana. This comes from a new report expected later Friday.
According to the survey, binge drinking is defined as four or more drinks in one sitting for female students and 5 or more for male students.
More than 5,000 students took the survey and 48% say they binge drink; those numbers are on the rise. “We were surprised to find that binge drinking had gone up 3 points from last year,” said Lisa Hutcheson Director of ICAN.
“Everyone likes to do it and we all do it,” said Michael Green a local college student.
The survey also shows students over the age of 21 are binge drinking at a higher rate than students under 21.
It's not just 21-year-olds doing the drinking.
75% of students admitted to drinking in a two week period, 67% of those were under the legal age.
