INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Investment in new facial recognition technology at the Indiana
Bureau of Motor Vehicles already is yielding returns with the
arrest of a man on fraud charges after he sought a seventh Indiana
identity.
BMV Commissioner Andy Miller disclosed the arrest Tuesday at
an identity theft and fraud symposium for law enforcement officers.
He says the man once jailed in Illinois for forgery had obtained
six Indiana driver's licenses before the agency alerted its
branches.
Within 48 hours, the man was caught while applying for a
seventh license. He's now in jail in Fountain County.
Miller announced at the meeting that the BMV is taking
additional security steps including the creation of a fraud and
security enforcement division within the agency.
A health care battle is heating up in Washington and here in Indianapolis.
