INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - If you are like most people, you have probably often thought about leaving town, leaving your job and starting over. That is just what one California man is doing in a different state every week.
Daniel Seddiqui's plan is called 50 jobs in 50 states. Indiana is number 27 on the list and Daniel decided to take on a classic Hoosier profession, IndyCar racing. He was hired to be a tire changer at Panther Racing and he picked up the pit lane basics pretty quickly.
"It's pretty competitive. I was an athlete in college and I
consider it a sport now, even though I didn't before," said Daniel.
He said there are a couple of jobs across America that were
tougher than he imagined. The hardest, he said, was logging in
Oregon, which included some 18-hour days. He said making cheese in
Wisconsin was very hard too.
Daniel is getting a paycheck for most of the jobs and he admits that next year will be a challenge come tax time.
"Do I have to worry about W-2s? Yeah, probably," said Daniel.
He took off on his job journey to show people there are still jobs, even in a tough economy.
"I felt like I had no opportunities when I graduated college, no one would hire me. I failed 40 interviews straight out of college and, like anyone else, we think, 'What is out there for me?' But now that I have done this, there is so much to see, so much to do, there are endless opportunities for anybody," said Daniel.
Next stop: Vermont, to make maple syrup.
