SEYMOUR, Ind. (AP) - A Seymour man is being held on murder and arson charges after a woman was found dead in a burning car.
The Tribune reports 29-year-old Gerald Eugene Combs Jr. was arrested Friday afternoon on charges of murder, arson and neglect of a dependent. He was being held without bond in Jackson County Jail. It's not clear whether he has an attorney.
Rescuers discovered the body of 23-year-old Tabitha Brock of Seymour in the burning car in a rural area about 3 a.m. Friday. Indiana State police say preliminary autopsy results show she was dead before the car caught fire. Authorities aren't saying how she died.
Police say there's no evidence the car was involved in a crash.
