AG blames gas prices on refinery

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Attorney General Greg Zoeller is blaming Indiana's high gas prices in part on the closure of an Illinois oil refinery.

Zoeller said Thursday that his office had been monitoring gas prices throughout the Midwest. He attributes the region's price spikes to the closure of a Marathon refinery in Illinois for planned maintenance. He says reduced operations at three other refineries in Illinois and Indiana contributed to the spike.

AAA ssays Indiana's average price of $3.78 per gallon Thursday was the 7th highest in the nation. Illinois, Michigan and Ohio have also have higher prices because of the crimp in supplies.

Zoeller says his office has received 65 gas-price complaints this month, mostly this week. Complaints can be called in to his office at 1-866-241-9753
