INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indiana Bar Foundation has established a fund in honor of former Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Randall Shepard to promote diversity among lawyers.

The foundation says the Randall Shepard Fund for Diversity in the Legal Profession will advance programs in Indiana to enhance diversity in the legal profession. Those programs include efforts by local bar associations and support the goals of the Court's Commission on Race and Gender Fairness.

Former Indiana Supreme Court Justice Myra Selby and former state bar association President Roderick Morgan are leading the fundraising effort.

Selby was the only woman ever named to the state's highest court. She says Shepard has made many contributions to supporting diversity in the legal profession including the hiring practices in his chambers and the Supreme Court as a whole.
