MUNSTER, Ind. (AP) - A small group of residents watched with excitement as Vice President Joe Biden's motorcade drove through their northwestern Indiana neighborhood as he went to a private Democratic Party fundraiser.

Biden flew into Gary's airport Monday afternoon and then traveled to the Munster home of Democratic National Committee member Ann Bochnowski for the fundraiser where tickets started at $250 a person.

The Times of Munster reports Biden waved to the crowd of a couple dozen people waiting nearby. Elaine Caine says that was worth her wait.

The vice president's wife, meanwhile, visited the Ivy Tech Community College campus in Gary. The Post-Tribune reports Jill Biden met with some college leaders and students and touted Ivy Tech's partnership with the local steel industry to train students for jobs at the factories.
