PIMENTO, Ind. (AP) - A horse that wandered into the chilly waters of a western Indiana swimming pool is recovering after being rescued by the homeowner, sheriff's deputies and others.
The Vigo County Sheriff's Department says homeowner Jack Harvey of Pimento found the horse lethargic and shivering about 8 a.m. Sunday outside his home about 10 miles south of Terre Haute.
A hook on a winch on a vehicle belonging to Harvey was attached to a harness on the horse and used to guide the horse to the shallow end of the pool. Blankets were thrown over the horse, and it was coaxed into walking up steps in the pool into a heated garage, where a veterinarian treated the animal.
Deputies say that only after locating horse's owner did they learn it was blind.
