FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A sixth month old cat named Sparkle, who was rescued from a June 2012 cruelty case, is ready to be adopted from Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control.

Sparkle was deliberately burned with fireworks by Matthew Jerome , 22. He faces two felony counts of torture and one misdemeanor count of neglect.

Adoption profiles for Sparkle will be accepted for two days only on Oct. 15 and 16. A lottery system will be used to select who will be able to adopt the cat.

Due to the number of people who want to adopt Sparkle, only the person whose profile is drawn from the lottery will be able to meet Sparkle and interact with her.

To apply for the adoption of Sparkle:

  • Print a Pet Adoption Profile from the Animal Care & Control website and fax it to 260-427-5514
  • Come to the shelter between the hours of 12-5 p.m., 3020 Hillegas Road on Monday, Oct. 15 or Tuesday, Oct. 16 to complete and submit a profile
  • Be sure to write “Sparkle Adoption” on the Adoption Profile

There will be two alternates chosen in case the first candidate declines the adoption.

Sparkle will be sent home on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. There will be a happy-new-home party in the Animal Care & Control Education Center.
