Center seeks money to upgrade exhibits

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - A southern Indiana center that showcases the region's history is hoping lawmakers find money in the next state budget to help it bring its exhibits into the 21st century.
The Falls of the Ohio Interpretive Center opened in 1994, and its exhibits and movie haven't been updated since then. The Courier-Journal in Louisville, Ky., reports supporters of the state-run museum want to bring in hands-on activities and a high-definition movie chronicling the region's scientific, cultural and natural history.
Falls of the Ohio Foundation Executive Director Dani Cummins says the proposed exhibits are expected to cost $5.5 million. The foundation has raised $3.8 million toward the cost.
Four area lawmakers have urged their colleagues to support a request to appropriate $585,000 for the project.
