BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) - Big changes are coming to phones in southern Indiana.
State regulators are looking how to add new phone numbers in the area currently covered by the 812 area code.
Since the cell phone boom, the state has been running out of numbers to give to new phones.
The Indiana Utility Regulator Commission held a hearing at Bloomington High School South Thursday afternoon.
The agency is looking for public input on whether to give new phone numbers the new area code or whether to split the current 812 area code into two different area codes.
