Charges filed in murder investigation

DEARBORN CO., IN. - Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecuting Attorney Aaron Negangard has announced charges have been filed in the Leigh Jennings murder investigation.

Charles R. "Steve" Stephenson, 58 of Walton, Kentucky has been charged with robbery and murder as a result of this lengthy investigation.

Stephenson is accused of the March 29 th murder and robbery of 67-year-old Leigh Jennings of Aurora.

Jennings' body was discovered by neighbors in the late evening hours of April 5, which sparked this lengthy and intensive investigation.

Stephenson is being held in the Boone County Jail in Kentucky on local charges.

Negangard said the crimes Stephenson stands charged with are "death penalty eligible"; however, no decision has been made as to how the prosecution will proceed in this matter.

If the death penalty is not sought in this case, Stephenson could be facing up to 115 years in prison if convicted on both charges and sentenced to the
