Chelsea General Store sheltered crowd during storm

CHELSEA, Ind. (WISH) - The swath of destruction was smaller in the town of Chelsea than in nearby Henryville and Marysville, but the damage done is still devastating.

Tony Williams, who runs the Chelsea General Store, said the area is largely a farming community. The local airport lost a hanger in the storm, and two families suffered fatalities, he said.

His store sheltered customers, truck drivers and three busloads of school children when the EF-4 tornado hit Friday. The bus drivers pulled off at the store, knowing that driving in the storm would be too dangerous.
