KNOX, Ind. (AP) - A Chicago-based restaurant furniture maker is moving to a northern Indiana county with a 10.8 percent unemployment rate.
Selected Furniture announced it is moving to Starke County, which in March had Indiana's fifth highest unemployment rate. The company said it will invest $1.2 million to purchase and equip a 200,000 square-foot facility in Knox. It also will move its China-based commercial-grade wood furniture manufacturing to the facility.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Selected Furniture up to $425,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $87,500 in training grants to move.
Selected Furniture said it already has begun hiring woodworkers, painters, upholsters, general labor and administrative positions.
