ROANOKE, Ind. (AP) - Police say a child died after a crash on a northeastern Indiana highway that was caused by a man arrested on a drunken driving charge.
The Whitley County Sheriff's Department says the crash happened Sunday night when a vehicle drove into the back of a van stopped for a traffic signal at U.S. 24 and Indiana 114 a few miles west of Fort Wayne.
The Journal Gazette reports ( http://bit.ly/IzHbOT ) four children and an adult passenger inside the van were taken to hospitals, where one child died. Police didn't immediately release the name or age of that child or information about injuries to the other children.
Police say a 52-year-old man driving the other vehicle was treated at a hospital and then jailed on a charge of drunken driving causing death.
