NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) - A southern Indiana city is moving ahead with plans for an aquatic center and a multiuse sports complex.

The News and Tribune reports the New Albany City Council approved a lease agreement Thursday that will allow the Ohio River city to issue a bond of up to $19.6 million to help fund the projects. The city's Redevelopment Commission must give final approval for the bond.

The aquatic center is planned for a former pools complex and could cost between $8 million and $9 million. The separate proposed sports complex would include an indoor facility, two fields for a variety of sports and a walking path.

New Albany's city council must approve the projects before construction begins.
