JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (AP) — The mayor of a southern Indiana city has decided to outsource its public relations work.

The News and Tribune and The Courier-Journal of Louisville, Ky., report that Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore has hired New Albany-based ProMedia Group to assume the duties formerly performed by a city communications director.

ProMedia Group says it will provide ongoing "positive messaging" and news updates to the city's website and social media pages.

Moore says the cost of hiring ProMedia will be about the same as that previously spent on the communications director position. The in-house position cost about $58,000 a year in salary and benefits.

ProMedia also handles public relations for the New Albany-Floyd County school district.
