JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Police in southern Indiana say a liquor store clerk is recovering after being shot three times during a robbery.
Jeffersonville police Detective Todd Hollis says the clerk was shot Saturday night at Red Carpet Liquors. Hollis tells The Courier-Journal that the clerk remained hospitalized Sunday after undergoing surgery at a Louisville, Ky., hospital.
Hollis says surveillance video shows the gunman appearing to make some demand of the clerk and then shooting at him when he stepped away from the cash register.
Store manager Barbara Dunn tells WDRB-TV her sister was in another part of the store when the gunman came in wearing a face mask. Dunn says the wounded clerk doesn't speak fluent English and might've been confused by the gunman's orders.
