FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Officials say a man who was pulled from a northeastern Indiana lake after he went under while swimming has died.

Allen County Coroner Dr. E. Jon Brandenberger tells The Journal Gazette ( http://bit.ly/KPY0yT ) that the death of 34-year-old Rudy Juarez was an accidental drowning.

Witnesses told authorities that Juarez was swimming in Bowman Lake at Fox Island County Park on Saturday morning when he started to struggle and then went under.

Several people entered the water and brought Juarez to shore after they found him unconscious. Rescuers performed CPR on him before he was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital in critical condition.

Brandenberger says Juarez was pronounced dead at the hospital about 12:30p.m. Saturday.
