INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indiana Supreme Court should have a new chief justice in two weeks.

The court announced Wednesday that the state Judicial Nominating Commission will meet May 15 to pick a new leader for the court from among the court's five justices.

Brent Dickson has been the acting chief justice since Randall Shepard stepped down in March after heading the court for 25 years. The person selected by the seven-member commission will get a five-year term as chief justice.

Court observers have suggested Justice Steven David as a possible pick. The former Boone County judge was appointed by Gov. Mitch Daniels in 2010 and drew attention for writing the court's decision last year that residents didn't have a right to resist police entry.
